Wassay Mohammad Ali is Vice President Operations for EMEA and Asia at Excelacom. He is involved in technology strategy and transformation initiatives, as well as business development in EMEA and Asia regions.
He has been with Excelacom since 2011 and has been instrumental in establishing our European base while working on a number of strategic initiatives across Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa.
Prior to joining Excelacom, Mr. Ali was working with another Global Professional Services and Consulting Organization based in UK and acted as regional head for the strategic consulting business unit in the telecom, media and utilities sector. In this role, he spearheaded a number of initiatives by leading the architecture and delivery teams. He was also a Principle Consultant and Assistant VP at Logan Orviss, which later became part of Cap Gemini.
Before Logan Orviss, Mr. Ali was the CIO at a large UAE based group responsible for rolling out mobile and fixed-line networks in number of emerging markets including South Asia, Central Asia and Africa. His responsibilities included strategy, planning and rollout of end-to-end business and operations support systems. He worked in a similar role at Motorola in Middle East as part of their Cellular Infrastructure Group prior to that. In the early part of his career, Mr. Ali worked at Schlumberger in the oil field services industry and managed field data analysis projects in Europe and Middle East.
Mr. Ali holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from University of Houston and Masters in Business Administration from University of Oxford.
