Samia Bounaira was the General Manager of the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) markets. In her role, she spearheaded Excelacom's international expansion and drives growth in CALA markets.
Prior to joining Excelacom, Samia has gained over 25 years experience as a senior global executive specializing in Latin America markets. Samia has an exceptional track record for driving revenue growth and business profitability for medium to large size organizations in the secure payment sector, communication and media companies and high-tech solutions industries.
From 2013 to this year, Samia served as the Regional Director of the Latin America Market for Comverse, the leading global provider of telecom business solutions. At Comverse, she led a team of account & delivery managers responsible for major telecommunication operators across Latin America.
From 2011 to 2013, Samia was appointed as Vice President and Managing Director for the Latin America market at Planet Payment, a leader in secure payment processing services, where she opened the Mexico branch office and directed new business deployment efforts for LATAM payment and ecommerce processing and solutions. From 2008 to 2011, Samia served as the Vice President and Managing Director for Mexico, Central America, Caribbean and Andean at Hypercom, a secure global payment technology leader, consolidating successfully the regional presence of the brand. From 2004 to 2008, Samia opened the regional branch as the Sales Director for Oberthur Technologies, a leading provider of smartcard-based solutions, where through her personal engagement and compromise the company gained solid presence and trust of all industry players.
Earlier in her career, Samia worked as Sales and Project Director, Project Manager and Sales Account Manager for Krones AG in Germany and Mexico.
Her strong leadership roles have helped increase sales revenues in small time frames, win awards, acquire major accounts, and train successful teams.
Ms. Bounaira graduated in Business Administration and International Affairs from Goldsmiths' College in London and University of Paris XIII in Paris. She also holds a degree in Project Planning, Administration, Evaluation, and Control Management from the Technological Institute of Superior Studies in Monterrey, Mexico. In addition, Samia has completed the High Executive Management Program at IPADE Business School in Mexico City, Mexico with a President's Committee Nomination.
